Banner Advertising

If you’re in the business to make money you want to design banners that aren’t trick banners. It’s very important to making sales that the page your banner links to has what the banner implies. If you trick people into going to your sales page or site it’s not likely they will buy anything because they don’t trust your site.

Using wording that means one thing but implies another will harm your business and make your banner ads essentially worthless. It’s just plain bad when you need good banner ad design. One of the best examples of this practice is hyping some great software and having “Free Download” on the banner. What the banner designer means is you don’t have to pay to download the file. What the customer infers is that the software is free or at the very least has a free trial. Imagine the anger and irritation when they click the download link on the page and get immediately asked for their credit card. Oops, had a customer and now have an enemy.

Advertising agencies can work with you to conceive advertising campaigns and create professional banner ads for your site. By placing digital banners on a site you are encouraging visitors to your site in a cost effective way. Because of the traffic and diversity of visitors, banner ads offer a real value to advertisers.

If you are considering creating your own banners for advertising on your website do a search on banner makers and you’ll find a ton of places that will walk you through making some great digital banners for ads.

There are a lot of big name websites using popups and making money with them. I get so tired of that Netflix banner that pops up behind everything. It’s easy to get rid of but it sure annoys me when it does pop up. I’m sure you know that the people running Netflix and the other big name places using popups are smart people and wouldn’t be using that form of advertising if it didn’t work. Seems to me that’s pretty much a no brainer part of the equation. Advertising can be expensive and companies aren’t going to waste money with advertising ideas that don’t make money for them.

Now ask yourself this question. “If so many of the big name companies are using pop up banners why aren’t I using them?” Using pop ups in the correct way can get a great CTR and using them in the wrong way can drive surfers away. Most people have little problem with polite pop ups that don’t keep popping up more popups.
