Creating a successful company logo design can be a complicated business. Something that looks good on the drawing board or even on the product may not really look good on television, in magazine ads, a business card or a billboard.

Anyone designing a logo needs to make sure that it ends up meaning the same thing no matter where it is seen. And it can’t be busy or complicated. A logo with intricate detail will just not be clear when it’s reduced to fit on a business card. And it can’t be something that won’t Xerox well or go over well on a fax machine.

Target, the retailer, has a pretty fun company logo design. Not every kind of business can afford to be fun or to be cool. A manufacturer of universal remotes might benefit from a fun twist to their logo – kind Of the Way Logitech manages it. A manufacturer of car parts or a law firm wouldn’t get very far with fun and the logo. It just wouldn’t sit well with the target audience.

A lot of colors are considered fun. Some restaurant logos can have a lot of colors as long as the clientele is casual and fun. The reason you see blue in a lot of corporate logos is that the color is considered kind of dignified. This doesn’t hold true for restaurant logo design.
