Major Depressive Disorder

Medical professionals have yet to determine one specific cause for major depressive disorder. Instead, they have established that there are several causes for major depressive disorder. One of the main areas of interest when it comes to the causes of this particular form of depression is the common chemical imbalances that may occur within the brain.

Major depressive disorder also known as major depression or clinical depression, is characterized by a combination of symptoms that interfere with a person’s ability to study, work, eat, sleep, and enjoy once-pleasurable activities.

Major Depressive Disorder is very treatable

To be listed as someone suffering from major depressive disorder, at least five symptoms from the following list have to have been present during a two week period. They must represent a change from earlier functioning. People with fewer symptoms or those who haven’t had a change may still be depressed or suffering from a mood disorder, but that disorder will be classed differently. Possible symptoms of major depressive disorder include a depressed mood, lack of pleasure and interested in activities formerly enjoyed, a significant change in appetite or weight, greatly increased or decreased sleep, excess guilt or feelings of low worth, trouble concentrating and thinking, and recurrent thoughts about death.

Not ALL Insurance Reps are Bad Eggs!

Insurance sales people are often grouped together with dodgy used car salesmen, real estate agents, and other such people who work in pushy professions. So why is this? The quick answer is that the insurance industry is heavily driven on commission. It stands to reason then that the more insurance an insurance sales person sells, the more money they are likely to pocket for themselves. It is for this reason, and the complicated insurance jargon, that the laymen so despises. We tend to think that we’re being ripped off left right and center paying for stuff we don’t need cover for, and worse still, not knowing exactly what it is we’ve bought into specifically. So does this mean that those affordable family health plans that are presented to us could have been even more affordable if we’d been probably advised? The answer to that is both yes and no. Let’s explain:

Not ALL insurance sales people are out to rip you off. In fact, perhaps the vast majority of them are only too happy t sit down and tailor make a policy that is just right for you, be that dental cover, or general health. When they are asking questions about general health and fitness, any issues with disability etc, it’s not that they are prying or trying to sell you more than you need, but they are merely making sure you have answered all the corrections correctly so that you will be insured in the event of a claim. Missing out detail on the sales person end, or lying about your health and fitness when asked are mistakes that just can’t be made if you’re to be covered. So what’s all this fuss about crooked insurers then?

Well, it’s like the dodgy used car salesman and the dishonest real estate agent in that it only takes a couple of bad stories to tar an entire industry with the same mucky brush, and this is what has happened to the insurance game over the years. Therefore, it’s a good idea to make going with a reputable company with an impeccable track record for you health cover. Health is one item in life that we shouldn’t skimp on, yet it is one of the most skimped needs that too many of us neglect. Healthcare systems are there to care for our health, but sadly they’re not always there to help us when we need them most should we be without insurance.
