If you’ve ever thought of entering the medical field as a radiologist, you’re probably wondering what is an x-ray technician?

To begin with and x-rays used to create an image of the insides of the patient’s body that needs to be diagnosed. The person that actually performs this procedure is known as an x ray technician. As an x-ray tech you will have many jobs, but your primary job will be to produce a clear image using an x-ray machine. This image is then interpreted by a doctor.

As an x-ray technician you will have to prepare the patients for the test. This is usually done by explaining exactly what will be performed. After that, you will then have to apply a radiation shield over the patient’s body. The shield will protect the patient from any excess radiation exposure. You also need to make sure that the patient is properly positioned so you can get a clear image.

Besides capturing the proper image, you also be responsible for filling out the proper medical records as well as maintaining the equipment that you use for the x-ray tests. Just where and when to involve employees in management decisions is sometimes not a straightforward matter. It is important that effective employee time management is promoted and monitored – and that can often be improved by real, contributing involvement.

The trend in most organisations has for some time been to involve staff in the decision making process as much as possible. There are very sound reasons for doing so – not least to increase motivation and accountability. The question is no longer should staff be involved – but to what extent – and if there and where there are boundaries.

Setting the strategic direction of any organisation is fundamental to good time management. Concentrating and spending time (indeed any resource) on the right things is vital and without that focus poor time management is inevitable.

But to what extent should employees be involved? Staff involvement in the “how to” decisions is almost invariably advantageous. More problematic are the “why” considerations. Recognisable, spurious involvement in areas which are perhaps less open to genuine input can de-motivate.

In other words strategic planning is often an area which lends itself less readily to employee participation, and there will be occasions and environments where this is unworkable and of less benefit to the organisation. The trick is to involve employees at the level where their contribution is real and the benefits of greater accountability and motivation are realised and not jeopardised.

Excellent employee time management is vital to any organisation – and appropriate involvement in wider planning will play a part in its achievement.
