Portugal is located on the western side of the Iberian Peninsula neighbouring Spain and is an excellent location for a golf holiday.

Portugal has many great golfing area, including the Silver Coast but in particular for this article we will be looking at the Algarve region and the opportunities it offers for golfers.

The Algarve region is the most southern region of Portugal covering an area of 2,089 square miles, and it receives over 10 million visitors every year! many of them are golfers wanting to experience a golf holiday in the Algarve.

The Algarve has attracted golfers for nearly 30 years, not only because of the plentiful and magnificent golf courses, but also because of the fantastic scenery (especially along the coastline), and of course the wonderful weather!

The legendary golfing character Henry Cotton designed the first grass course of note in the Algarve, and then during the 70s and 80s many more excellent golf courses sprang up in the region.
